Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed yesterday said Feni which had the dubious distinction as a safe haven for terrorists in the past, has now got rid of (he label.

He said (hat the people heaved a sign ol relief alter realising the fact that the present government was very much sincere to curb terrorism and extortion.

"Whoever is the terrorist, whatever his identity, none is above the law," he said this while speaking at the inaugural function of a seminar titled on "Socio-Economic Development: Past, Present and Future of Feni.’

The minister said the government had already arrested the son of a minister, a party MP and a brother of another party lawmaker to prove its sincerity in order to improve the law and order situation.

With a view to strengthening ihe country's economy, the minister said, security, law and order should be maintained at all levels of industry', trade and commerce.

fhe minister said BNP has inherited terrorism from the previous government. The present government is continuing its efforts to contain all forms of terrorism and doing everything possible to improve the country’s law and order - situation.

He also laid the foundation stone of the Revenue Bhaban at Companiganj, the home constituency of the minister.
