One of the leaders of the former proIsraeli South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia, Said Karamallah, returned to Lebanon Friday to give himself up to the authorities, an AFP correspondent on the northern Israeli border reported.

Karamallah, who was head of logistics for the SLA, crossed the border at Rosh Hanikra on the Mediterranean coast at around 11:00 a.m. (0800 GMT) and in the company of troops of the UN peacekeeping force UNIFIL gave himself up at a Lebanese army post.
