Different organisations yesterday held Milad Mahfil and offered special prayers over the High Court verdict in Bangabandhu Murder Trial as part of the nationwide 'Shukrana Dibash'.
Devotees at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque offered special munajat after Juma prayers.
Dhaka district unit of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised a Milad Mahfil and offered special prayers at its Kakrail office.
Later a discussion was held here with its convenor Maksudur Rahman Khan Maksud in the chair.
Film maker Alamgir Kumkum, Film Actor Faruq, Poet Tridib Dastidar, Rashida Mohiuddin and Arun Sarker Rana, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Milad mahfil and special prayers were also held in each mosque of Gazipur as part of Shukrana Day.
State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Alhaj Advocate Rahmat Ali, Ahsanullah Master, MP Chairman of Gazipur Pourashabha AKM Mozammel Huq attended the prayer at the Gazipur central Jame mosque.
The Hindu community yesterday also offered a special prayer at Dhakeswari Mandir National Temple expressing their gratitude to almighty God at the historic High Court Verdict in the Bangabandhu Murder Trial.
A large number of people of the Hindu community joined the prayer organised by Dhaka Mahanagar Sarbojanin Puja Committee as part of the nationwide Shukrana Day programme.
Advocate Sudhangshu Shekhar Haldar, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Dr Lalith Mohan Nath, journalist Swapan Kumar Saha and Advocate Satyendra Nath Bhakta spoke on
the occasion.
Community leaders Joyanta Sen Dipu, Mrs Sabitri Bhattacharya, Monindra Kumar Nath, Mongol Chandra Ghose, Joyanta Kumar Dev, Pankaj Nath, Mrs Dipen Chatterjee, Babul Devnth, Nirmal Chatterjee, Chandranath Poddar, Shukendra Shekhor Baidya and Amal Dutta, among others, attended the prayer.
Dr Paresh Chandra Mandol led the prayer while Ajit Chandra Bhattacharya cited verses from the holy Geeta seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members who were killed on August 15, 1975.
They also prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country
