Slum dwellers are at the mercy of mastaans, pimps, the police and all kinds of accidents. In this slum, anyone could be hit by a speeding train. But where do slum residents go? Eviction is not the answer. They should be relocated, with basic housing facilities. Since the DCC cannot get its act together, Dhaka should be brought under a city government to implement a truly modern city plan.
