CHANDPUR, Dec 31: At least six people were injured in a clash between two groups over celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr in village Sadra of Hajiganj upazila on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Witnesses said the clash took place among the followers of renowned peer late Maulana Ishaq as they were divided on holding Eid congregation.

Some of them had Eid congregation Tuesday as they started fasting from November 26 but others who started fasting from November 27 observed Eid prayer on Wednesday.

Since 1931, Maulana Ishaq and his followers have been celebrating Eid and other religious programmes in 25 villages of the district according to the schedule of Saudi Arabia.

The clash erupted when the villagers came to know that Eid was not held Tuesday in Saudi Arabia. But those who held Eid congregation Tuesday said they followed the schedule of Libya.

However, people in other parts of the district observed the Eid on Thursday as per the schedule of the national moon sighting committee.
