The BNP-led opposition alliance will stage countrywide demonstration today lo’ press its various demands including resignation of the government and holding of early parliamentary polls.

As part of the programme, the BNP. Jatiya Party. Jamaat-e-Islami. Islamic Olkya Jote and some other rightwing smaller parties will hold joint rallies and processions in all city, district and thana headquarters.

In Dhaka, the alliance will hold a joint public rally at Muktangon at 2pm and bring out a procession. Tlie rally will also demand release of all political prisoners before the Eid. halt of repression on opposition activists and Just price of crops. Central and city unit leaders of the parties will address the rallv.

Sources said though the Liaison Committee at its meeting on December 5 demanded release of Jallya Party Chairman H M Ershad. the BNP policy makers I have decided not to demand his release from any rally.
