NETRAKONA. Dec 11: With the beginning of Ramadan, the month of fasting, prices of essentials have shot up in local markets.

The prices of sugar ranged between Tk 38 and Tk 40 per kg against Tk 35 and Tk 38 two weeks ago. soybean oil hovered between Tk 35 and 36 per kg against Tk 34 and Tk 35 per kg while garlic was selling between Tk 38 and Tk 44 a kg. market sources said.

The prices of onion, botlj local and imported varieties, rose by Taka 4 per kg tins week In wholesale markets.

The prices of different varieties of vegetables remained almost unchanged last week. Prices of potato ranged between Tk 10 and Tk 12 per kg and the prices of papaya ranged between Tk 8 and Tk 10 per kg.

Brinjal was selling between Tk 16 and Tk 18 per kg last week, but now the item was selling between Tk 18 and Tk 20 per kg.

The prices of tomato rose between Tk 35 and Ik 38 per kg against Tk 32 and Tk 33 last week. Ladies finger was selling between Tk 20 and Ik 22 per kg against Tk 18 and Tk 20.

The prices of rice of 1RR1 variety ranged between Tk 12 and Ik 13 per kg in the last week. The price of paljam variety ranged between Tk 15 and Tk 16 per kg-

In the wholesale markets, the prices of moshur pulse ranged between Tk 38 and 40 per kg. While, the item was selling between Tk 40 and Tk 42 per kg in the retail markets. The price of moog pulse ranged between Tk 38 and Ik 40 per kg. One kg of big size ruhi fish was sold at Tk 120 to Tk 125 while a medium size one was sold between Tk 90 and Tk 100 per kg.

The price of lour pieces of egg ranged between Tk 10 and Tk 12. The prices of mutton also rose, ranging between Tk 135 and Tk 140 per kg against Tk 125 and Tk 130 per kg last week.
