The resignation letters of two Judges of the High Court are yet to be accepted by the President, court sources said yesterday.

Justice Kazi Shafiuddln tendered resignation on November 10. citing personal reasons after what he said being superceded three times by his Junlore as regards promotion.

Justice Mohammad Latlfur Rahman resigned on November 23.c|tlng personal grounds. His name cropped up in the much discussed cassette case.

With the resignation of two Judges, death of one. retirement of one and promotion of one judge, the number of HC judges has come down to 40, the sources

said.

Meanwhile. Justice Mahmudur Rahman of the Supreme Court Is due to retire today and Justice Kazi Ebadul Huq in Die near future. Chief Justice Latlfur Rahman is due to retire on February 28. the sources said.

He Is likely to be replaced by Justice Mahmudul Amin Choudhury, the senior most SC Judge next to him. the sources added.

The Law Ministry Is processing the files for appointment of at least nine Judges In the HC.

Those will now lx- sent to the office ol the President who appoints the judges.
