Chasing a 91-run lead after England's first-innings of 315. the Governor’s XI got off to a disastrous start, losing three wickets by the seventh over.

But a fourth wicket stand of 102 between Akhtar Sarfraz and Naumanullah. who both hit half centuries, stopp'd the rot and brought them back into contention.

When play was called off I 4 overs before schedule due io bad light. Sarfraz was not out on 53 with nightwatchman Sajid Shah on nought, leaving the local side 24 runs ahead with six wickets in hand.

Sarfraz. who has played four one-cldy internationals for Pakistan. batted with authority and hit sLx fours in his 155-minute vigil.

Naumanullah appeared to lose concentration in the fading light and was caught at short

mid-wicket for 50 oil Darren Gough, who finished with three wickets for 30.

Earlier in the innings, pace bowler Caddick had opener Imran Farhat caught behind by Alec Stewart in the third over for a duck.

Gough then removed Tanfiq Hinder (1) and Yasir Hameed (5) to send the home team reeling at 13-3.

But Naumanullah and Sarfraz saved the hosts from a collapse and steered the innings to 65-3 at tea
