KHULNA Oct 9: Golam Reza. PS to Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad. was severely injured when a group of agitated party workers assaulted him at noon on Sunday at Satkhira Water Development Board (WDB) rest house.

The incident took place in presence of Ershad and other central and local leaders.

The JP w-orkers said Reza has been slandering local leaders and misguiding the party chairman for long. Reza being a son of Satkhira district does not have any soft corner for partv leaders and workers. He is a backbiter and this is why we have taught him a good less on. the agitated workers said.

Profusely bleeding. Reza was admitted to a local clinic. Later, he came back to rest house and narrated the incident to Ershad.

Ershad became furious and took some leaders to task for not settling the matter earlier to avert the incident. At one stage he boarded his private car for leaving Satkhira without visiting the flood affected areas.

But the JP supporters lay down on the road in front of his car to stop him from leaving Satkhira without distributing relief goods.

At last. Ershad went back to rest house promising disc iplinary action against trouble shooters within the party. He visited only one affected area due to nightfall, a JP source said.
