The distribution of admission forms into the first year honours courses in different departments of the Dhaka University in the session 2000-2001 began yesterday
The admission forms of Kha' and ‘Gha units are being distributed from the Janata Bank. Teacher and Students Centre (TSC) branch, forms of Ka' unit from the Agrani Bank. Curzon Ball branch and the 'Ga' unit's forms from the Sonali Bank. Administrative Building branch The price of the admission forms has been fixed at Tk 225.
The admission forms of Ka unit (science group). 'Kha' unit (arts group), 'Ga' unit (commerce group) and 'Gha' unit (combined group) have to be submitted to the concerned offices by October 24.
The date of the admission tests is scheduled as follows: Ka unit on November 10, 'Kha' unit on November 17, 'Ga' unit on November 3 and 'Gha' unit on November 24.
Those who have passed the Higher Secondary (HSC) examination in the year 1999 and 2000 are eligible to apply. The minimum requirements for the admission are at least second division in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and HSC or the equivalent examinations and a total of 1)50 marks for Kha' and 'Ga' units and 1350 marks for the 'Ka' unit in both the exams. Admission seekers into 'Glia' unit have to have at least 50 per cent marks in Bangla and English without grace numbers in HSC or equivalent exams.
Students from HSC Aleem science group and home economics group have to have 1350 marks and the students from the humanities and commerce groups have to have 1150 marks in both SSC and HSC examinations.
Students who have passed four subjects in O' level and passed in al least two subjects in A' level in 1999 or 2000 and have obtained at least B grade in four subjects and C grade In any other two off the six subjects at O' and 'A' levels are also eligible for admission.
The admission tests will be held in MCQ system and the pass number is 40 out of 100. For the admission into the Kha' unit admission seekers have to obtain at least 7 marks in Bangla and English and 14 in general knowledge.
