Due to light to heavy rainfall at most places over the Ganges basin, the tlood situation along the banks of the river Padma Is likely to deteriorate Inundating more low-lying areas In next 12 hours till 9 am today, reports UNB.

According to Flood Forecasting aiid Warning Centre, more low-lying areas of Chapal-nawabganj and low-lying areas at downstream of Jamuna are also likely to inundate while the flasliflood situation in greater Sylhet may remain unchanged.

The Jamuna at all points except SiraJganJ and the Padma at all points are likely to rise further during the period.

Light to moderate rainfall was recorded at most places over the Brahmaputra. Meghna and Southeastern Hill basins during last 24 hours.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna at all points except at Ba-hadurabad and the Padma at all points recorded rise while the rivers in Meghna marked rise and fall and most of the rivers in the Southeastern Hill basin marked fall.

Out of 46 water level stations monitored by the centre. four rivers were flowing above danger level at seven points. 21 points recorded rise, 20 points fall and two points remained static.

The Padma marked rise by 11cm at Pankha, 14cm at Ra-Jshahi. 8cm at Hardinge Bridge. 5cm at Goalundo and 6cm at Bhagyakul. The river was flowing 60cm above the danger mark at Pankha while 20 cm at Bhagyakul and 15 cm at Goalundo.

The Mohananda In Ganges basin marked further rise by 16cm at Chapalnawahganj and it was flowing 33cm above danger mark.

In the Meghna basin, the Kushiyara recorded rise by 15crn at Amalshid while 7 cm at Sheola. The river was flowing 114cm and 30cm above red mark at the points respectively while the Surma at Kanaighat was flowing 81 cm above danger mark.

A significant 53mm rainfall was experienced in Rajshahi, 50mm at Jessore. 20mm at Kanaighat and 18mrn at Sheola during 24 hours till 9 am yesterday.
