’be Green Delta Premier Division y hockey league with a 3-1 win over promotees Bangladesh Sporting Club at the Maulana Bhasani Stadium yesterday.

Mariner, who suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat at the hands •I Farashganj Sporting Club in ilieir previous match last week, began on a promising note ■ igainst the old-towners taking a 2-0 lead in the first session.

Midfielder Yousuf All Biswas opened the Mariner account with a field goal in the eighth minute while forward Musa Mia sealed the first half converting a penalty-stroke in the 29th minute. It was Musa’s fourth goal in the league.

Mohammad Razzaq completed the demolition with a field goal in the 39th minute. Khaza Taleb reduced the margin for Bangladesh Sporting in tne 47th minute. Incidentally, it was Bangladesh Sporting’s first goal scored in the league from five matches. On the other hand they have conceded 19. Mariner’s second win in three matches raised their tally to six points. The fourth defeat against a draw for Bangladesh Sporting, kept them at the bottom of the nine-team league table with only a point.
