KATHMANDU. Aug 7: China has allowed Nepal to transport much-needed food supplies to three remote areas in northwestern Nepal via the Chinese-administered region of Tibet, officials said yesterday, reports AFP.

"The central government has to supply food grains to its Humla, Mugu and Dolpa districts, via roadways in Tibet to avert hunger deaths, but transporting them on board helicopters was very costly and impractical." Minister of Industry. Commerce and Supplies Ram Krishna Tamrakar said.

The Nepalese government had also requested an extra four routes through the Himalayas.

"Opening of the new Tibet-Nepal Trans-Himalayan Trade (route) will help resolve food scarcity problem in Nepal's remote districts."
