NEW DELHI. May 4: Commander-in-chief of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) Paresh Barua was flown from Dhaka to Islamabad where he had talks with the military regime last month, an Indian dally. The Pioneer, reported today, says BSS.

Indian Intelligence agencies, the paper said, have traced the cellular phone number of Barua. "It Is confirmed that Barua is in Dhaka and is close to top officials of the Pakistan high commission there." the re-

port quoted a senior Indian home ministry official as saying.

The report said that being shaken at the recent mass surrender of ULFA activists In Assam. the ULFA chief approached Pakistan to help step up his activities. But the Indian army paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies have been put on alert.

The paper said Assam police procured a copy of a Bangladeshi passport’ issued to Barua in the name of Ka-maruddin Zaman. The InterService Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan has procured different passports for Barua in different names.

It said the documentary evidence shows (i- .i Bangladeshi passports have been obtained by fraudulent means with (he help of an official of (he Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka.

During the recent home sec-retary-level meeting. India has sought help from Bangladesh to pin down Barua.
