Speakers at a seminar yesterday demanded inclusion ol the Liberation War history in the national curricula, saying It was imperative to give the new generation a clear vision about the country’s emergence, reports BSS.

The study of the Liberation War history would not bring any effective result if it was not included In the national curricula. they said.

The seminar, 'Inclusion of the Study of History of Liberation War at the Secondary Level of School and Madrassa,' was organised by Muktijuddho. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh Research Institute at the National University. Treasurer of National University Prof Mohammad Sirajuddin presided over the function. It was also addressed by Moloy Bhoumlk. Dr. Momtajuddin Patowari presented the keynote paper.

Dr. Patowari said the history of the Liberation War was distorted in a planned way by the military and civil administration during their 21 years of rule. "They incorporated the distorted version In school and madrassa syllabuses, he added.

Dr. Patowari said the Liberation War history was corrected in textbooks by bringing amendments to the texts in 1996.

He said steps have been taken to free the War of Liberation from the single-tract outlook. but this initiative should . also be taken in case of

madrassa textbooks.

Dr. Patowari said improving the quality of textbooks was not remedy for knowing the history of Liberation War. The appointment of highly educated teachers having knowledge of the glorious part of the country's history was needed, he said.

Dr. Patowari also urged the government to appoint teachers who believed in the spirit of the

War of Liberation In schools and madrassas.

Maloy Bhoumlk urged the government to included the history of Liberation War in higher education.

Prof Sirajuddin said the killers of the Bangabandhu washed the brains of the post-75 generations, filling the textbooks of history with distorted versions in a well orchestrated way.
