CHITTAGONG. Apr 3: The situation at Chittagong Medical College Hospital still remained tense as the four office rooms of doctors locked allegedly by ri-vals were not opened even today, hospital sources said.

The rooms were locked on Saturday night while three doctors were assaulted allegedly by their rivals centreing the election of BMA. Chittagong Unit, held on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the panel led by Dr Shahadat and Dr Jamil and supported by right leaning political parties, which swept the election, threatened to launch a movement if the locked rooms were not opened immediately.

Addressing a press conference at Chittagong Press Club this afternoon. Dr Khurshid Jamil, who was elected General Secretary of the BMA unit here this time alleged that candidates of their rival panel being defeated in the polls unleashed violence on the CMCH campus.

He refuted the allegation of rigging in the election raised by rival panel led by Dr Kaderi and Dr Slraj, saying it was baseless.

Dr Jamil claimed that the polls were fair and held in a healthy atmosphere.

He said some doctors were staying away from hospital duty fearing attac k by rivals.
