LONDON. March 2: English Premiership club Chelsea were told on Wednesday they face an anxious wail before finding out if they are to be punished by UEFA'for the behaviour of their supporters in the European Champions League match at Marseille on Tuesday night, reports AFP.

Reports from referee Rune Pedersen and UEFA delegate Sandor Berzi will be considered by the disciplinary committee when they next meet on Friday. March 17.

UEFA chiefs will also examine a report from Marseille police on their version of events in and around the Stade Velodrome.

"All these reports arc going to be taken into consideration and the disciplinary body will judge what to do." said a UEFA spokesman.

By the time a decision Is made. Chelsea will have only one game left in the Champions League Group D. at home to Lazio, a match they may need to win after losing in the south of France.

The trip to France turned into a gloomy night for Chelsea as Gianluca ViaTli's team were beaten 1-0 after a first-half strike from Robert Pires and trouble flared between English fans and police on the terraces.

The London club have suffered in the past from hooligan gangs who associated themselves with the team to wreak havoc at home and abroad.

Riot police moved into the Chelsea section of the ground in a scene to rekindle memories of the violence which scarred Marseille during the 1998 World Cup.
