Supporters of Kamal Majumder. Awami League MP. and his rivals in the Awami Shechchha Shebak (Volunteer corps) League, a front organisation of the ruling party held separate protest rallies at Mir-pur area yesterday.

Both sides accused each oilier of creating a 'reign of terror in the locality.

Majumder's followers demanded arrest of and punishment to the attackers on Tuesday afternoon, while his rivals under SM Mannan Kochi, joint convener of Awami Shechchha Shebak League. Dhaka, demanded release of the accused-arrested by police after the incident.

Majumder's brother filed a case accusing five people including SM Mannan Kochi, for the attack on the MP. said Pall-bai police. Other accused included Abdul Ahad. Ohidur . Rahman. A) Amin and Nairn— a ' cousin of Kochi.

Naim was produced before the court of ,the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate by police yesterday and was granted three days' remand.

Protesting the arrest of Naim followers of Kochi's ransacked vehicles in the area yes-terday morning, witnesses said, adding that they also had con-strut ted a blockade on the Mir pur road during that time.
