Asif Iqbal, a high profile official of the International Cricket Council (ICC), arrived in the city yesterday

to work out the details of a daynight limited-overs match between Asia Eleven and the Rest of the World Eleven.

The game, expecting to present a galaxy of stars, will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on April 8 to mark "ICC Cricket Week' across the world for the year 2000.

The former Pakistan captain. who is also the event manager of the one-off extravaganza. had a detailed discussion with State Minister for Youth and Sports Obaidul Quader yesterday.

A representative of the TransWorld International. Miss Issywood. is accompanying Asif during his two-day visit In the city.

The renowned Americabased broadcasting company won the right to cover the match.

President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Saber Hossain Chowdhury and general secretary Syed Ashraful Haq were also present in the meeting. Quader assured Asif of all possible cooperation including holding of a grand opening ceremony.

Although the BCB remained tight-lipped about the financial aspect of the match. Ashraful said that BCB would not entail any monetary cost except ensuring security arrangements. The BCB general secretary said that the ICC would bear all the expenses. It was not clear however who would bear ceremonial cost.

"The host Board will receive the gate money", said Ashraful. But he did not elaborated. Ashraful however said that there would be a lot of prize money on offer. He also claimed that the leading cricketers of the world would feature In the match. Regarding the prospect of our local players to play In the game Ashraful appeared skeptical.
