The government has decided to extend allout cooperation to local pharmaceutical industries for expanding and diversifying the rt of indigenous

, This was decided yesterday E at a high-level meeting between I Bangladesh Oushad Shilpa ESav v and Drug Administra-f ri '♦ the Ministry of Health oily Welfare in the city, ilh and Family Welfare k Minister Sheikh Fazlul Karim p Selim presided over the meet-■ ing. State Minister of the Min-istry Prof Dr M Amanullah and Secretary Syed Alamgir Far-rouk Chowdhury also spoke.

The meeting reviewed drug policy and suggested containing smuggling and production of adulterated and substandard drug. The meeting also decided . to take action against mushroom growth of unlicensed drug store.

The meeting stressed the need for maintaining proper pricing and quality of local pharmaceutical products to increase the volume of export.

It was informed at the meeting that indigenous pharmaceutical products meet 95 per cent of local demand and around 25 raw materials are being produced in the country following improvement of technical know-how of the pharmaceuti-; cal industries.
