Jatiya Party Chairman H M Ershaa yesterday said that the repressive Public Safety Act has made people s life Insecure instead of providing security, reports UNB.

"This law Is not for safety of the people, it is rather the last resort for safety of Awaml League." he told a press conference. rejecting the Public Safety Bill passed in parliament Sunday.

Ershad termed it a black law and said it would curb fundamental rights of people. This Act was passed to suppress the opposition and its movement,” he added.

The Jatiya Party Chairman said that he had met with President Justice Shahabuddln Ahmed at Bangabhaban yesterday and requested him to see whether there is any scope to send the bill to the Supreme Court.
