Health and Family Welfare Minister Sheikh Fazful Karim Selim yesterday said Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) will be upgraded as a centre of excellence through Installation of ultra modern equipment, reports BSS.

The up-gradation of DMCH would help reduce the trend of the patients to go abroad for treatment as well as siphoning of hard earned money, the minister said while paying a surprise visit to DMCH last morning.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Prof Dr M Amanullah, Director General of Health Services Prof ABM Ah-sanullah and Director of DMCH were present during his visit.

The minister went round different wards and sections including CCU. Operation Theatre. Spiral CT Scan Unit. X-ray. medicine, female and outdoor wards, and medical stores.

The DMCH authorities ap-Kraised the minister of prob-■ms of surgical instruments including radiotherapy machine. Two referral wards of both male and female will be functioning from February 15, the DMCH authorities Informed the minister.

The minister directed the authorities for immediate procurement of another Cobalt Cancer Machine and necessary fund will be provided. He urged the doctors to improve the quality of services for ensuring better medicare facilities to the patients.
