Thy 36-hour countrywide hartal called by the BNP-led ‘Opposition alliance to protest passage of the 'repressive and black' Public Safety law. will begin at 6 am today.

In support of the hartal, the BNP. Jatiya Party. Jamaat-e-Is-laml and Islam! Oikya Jote held separate rallies and brought out torch processions in all cities, district and thana headquarters yesterday.

In Dhaka, main opposition BNP organised rallies nd brought out torch process, jns from the city's New Market. Khilgaon. Mohakhali. Badda. Farmgate. Mohammadpur, Mirpur. Shampur, Uttara and Rampura areas.

The main torch procession of the party was brought out from BNP central office at Naya Paltan.

JP held a rally at Muktangan and later brought out a torch procession with anti-government slogans.

Jamaat and 1OJ organised separate rallies at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque and Purana Paltan mosque premises respectively. Both the parties also brought out separate processions in support of the hartal.
