State Minister for Shipping Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya yesterday said the press is now enjoying full freedom in the country, and this would continue in the interest of democracy and the rule of law, reports BSS.

The state minister was speaking at a function to mark the fourth founding anniversary of Jatiya Sangbadik Kalyan Samity in the National Sports Council auditorium in the city yesterday.

Chaired by samity president Delwar Bin Siraj. the function was addressed by lawmakers Mustafizur Rahman and Alhaj Mokbul Hossain.

On the occasion, the samity awarded medals and certificates among eight persons for their contributions in different fields.

The recipients of the medals are: S M Ali (Journalism) (posthumously). Mokbul Hossain (social welfare). Mohammad Enamul Huq (literature). Noor Hossain Balbi (film-making). Subrata Sengupta (music). Sohel Rana (film acting). Diti (film acting) and Ruksi (singer).
