Shato Nagorik Committee (committee ofhundred citizens) in a statement yesterday con-demhed the police attack on the leaders of opposition political 'parties Including BNP central leaders Sadek Hossain Khoka. Abdullah Al-Noman and Joynal Abedeen Farouq.

Referring to the volatile political situation prevailing in the country and governments action against ongoing democratic movement the president of the committee Prof Emaju-ddin Ahmed said the "present government has lost morality to rule the country."

He also blamed the government for making the parliament ineffective, destroying financial institutions and for closing all windows of the democracy. "The educational institutions has become den of terrorists, dignity of the judicial institutions has been lowered and newspapers have become the target of government's propaganda," the statement al-

"The government is pushing the country towards a nark age through its various anti-democratic steps." it added.

Emajuddin Ahmed urged the government to resign, showing respect to people's demand and hand over power to a neutral caretaker government, for the sake of national interest.
