SHcRPUR. Oct 9: Opposition leader Khaleda Zia said here today there could be discussion with the government only on formation of a caretaker government for an early election.

"There can be discussion only on one issue, that is. when a caretaker government will be formed for holding general election." the BNP chairperson told a big condolence meeting at the New Market crossing.

In an obvious reference to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasi-na’s offer of dialogue on specific demands of the Opposition. Khaleda again brushed aside the proposal and reiterated her one-point demand — resignation of the government and early general election

She called upon the people to unite and get ready for the "final blow' to the 'cdinipt and ineffl' dent government subservient to its alien masters."

Khaleda asserted "Now the only movement Is to dislodge Hasina and save the country. This is the demand of the people".

The meeting was organised to condole the death of Bidyut

Talukdar, joint convenor of Jatyitabadi Shewchchhasevak Dal. Sherpur unit, who was killed in police firing during the October 3 countrywide hartal.

The former prime minister said all opposition parties have united and called for a movement to topple this government. "Fall of the government is now a matter of time."'

Terming Bidyut as a martyr. Khaleda said he had sacrificed his life responding to the call for oust-governriient movement. for the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the country. His blood will not go in vain.

Earlier, she went to the Narayanpur residence of Bid-dyut. and consoled his family. She unveiled a name plaque in New Market area where Bidyut fell to the police bullet.

The BNP chairperson opened "Bidyut Smriti Parishad'’ office, near Sadar Hospital, where Bidyut worked as a carpenter.
