LEEDS. England. Aug 7: The ashes of former Leeds United and Scotland legend Billy Bremner were scattered at the kop end of his beloved Eiland Road before Leeds' opening match of the Premiership season against Derby on Saturday, reports AFP.

The private ceremony was attended by the former Leeds and Scotland skipper's widow Vicky and other members of the Bremner family.

It took place before the public unveiling of a nine-foot bronze statue of the man whose name was synonymous with Leeds' glory years in the 1960s and early '70s.

Bremner died of a heart attack in December 1997, aged 54. It was his wish that his ashes be scattered at the kop end of the ground where he shared so many triumphs with Leeds fans.
