The students of Mirpqr Bangla College went on the rampage when a student of the college was crushed under the wheels of a BRTC bus in the afternoon yesterday.

The students damaged a number of vehicles and put up barricade at least for two hours on the road in front of the college.

The dead was identified as Nuruzzaman Khan alias Jewel. 18. an HSC second year student of the college, police and hospital sources said.

The accident occurred when Nuruzzaman. a resident of city's Kafrul area, made an attempt to get into the bus that was moving slowly on the road in front ol the college at about 1 pm. police said.

As soon as Nuruzzaman jumped to get into the bus. the driver of the bus allegedly accelerated its speed. Nuruzzaman fell down and went under the wheels of the bus. police added.

Nuruzzaman was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospitai (DMCH) in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries soon after admission.

Subsequently the students damaged the BRTC bus and more than 10 vehicles in the area.

As soon as the news of death of Nuruzzaman spread, the students put up barricade on the road disrupting traffic movement for about two hours, hospital sources said.

Mirpur police said that they rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and additional police force were deployed there to avoid any untoward incident.

The Deputy Commissioner of DMP (West), however, said last night that no barricade was put up on the road.

Meanwhile, the Bangla College students, who went to DMCH to attend Nuruzzaman, clashed with the employees at the DMCH alleging that Nuruzzaman diet! due to negligence of the employees.

The body was handed over to Nuruzzaman's family after its autopsy at the DMCH. Janaza for Nuruzzaman was held on the college premises last night.
