NATORE. Aug 7: Eight alleged members of an organised gold smuggling ring were arrested from a local hotel this morning, reports UNB.

Acting on a tip-off. Natore police raided three rooms of Hotel Rukhshana and arrested Akash Sarker. 28, Shibsur, 25, Liton Nondi. 25, Robidash. 30. and Sohel. 28, of Shakharib-azar in Dhaka, and Bikash, 27. Sreecharan, 28, and Shamsuz-zaman of Naogaon.

The arrested people told police and local journalists that they had come to the district town on an invitation by the proprietor of Anima Jewellery Nipendralal Karmakar and his son Pronab Karmokar.

Nipendralal. however, denied any link with them.

The arrested are also wanted for different crimes in Dhaka and Naogaon. police said, adding that "they will be produced before the court tomorrow."
