Theatre's 26th production T "Spardha" was staged at the Guide House Auditorium. Written by famous playwright Abdullah Al-Mamun, "Spardha" is an ordinary story of a middle class family, their happiness and sorrow, love and fight, loyalty and greed. Directed by the author him-self "Spardha" was very delicately performed by the Theatre's brilliant per-forrners. It was first staged on November 27. 1993. The show was interrupted for an hour due to electricity failure.

'Spardha' is a story of a family, their conflicts and love among the members living to gether under the same roof. The father, Mr. Ahtnea, played by Abdullah Al-Mamun is a re tire.d government officer who lived his life honestly with his wife. Ferdausi Majumder, played the role of the mother. Mrs. Ahmed. Robby, their only son played by Apon Ahsan, is also like his father, honest and generous and very obedient to his parents. Robby works in a government office. Robby's hot-tempered wife Kona. played by Tanvin Sweety, is a working woman Their only son Bablu studies in Darjeeling. Trapa Majumder played the role of '-ima an only daughter of Mj Ahmed.

The story portrays some

very typical scenes of our daily life with some exquisite touch by Abdullah Al Mamun, that

made the drama excellent. The love between husband and wife, the quarrels between wife and mother-in-law and in between the family members are made more interesting through some delicate comedies. The climax of the story turns as Kona re ceives the phone call of her son Bablu. demanding for thirty thousand taka that he needs urgently. Unable to gather the money. Robby turns to his father for his pension money. But as his father rejected his son’s request a fight starts in iierween them

A drama becomes successful r«'t only tlirough performance but also through the dedication of the people behind the scenes. The stage design by Hasan Ahmed had a completely new look.

On mentioning the name Guide House Auditorium and Mahlla Smati Auditorium glimpses of stage drama passes over our mind. It is true that ■unong the few places were the dramas are staged. Guide House and Mahila Samiti Auditorium are the most renowned ones. But their current condition is very poor. Especially when the electricity fails. No back-up system is available to them. For this not only do the audience suffer but also the plays are hampered a lot.
