The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children Affairs Ministry meeting yesterday discussed the sub-committee report on activities of the Shishu Academy and setting up a separate directorate for children affairs, reports UNB.

While considering the subcommittee report, the meeting laid emphasis on appointment of skilled end experienced officials and employees to the proposed children affairs directorate so that it can play a significant role in flourishing the latent talent of the children.

It also laid stress to gear up the activities of the women directorate and suggested for changing the trend to continue more than three years in the same office by some officials.

'The women assistance programme of the directorate also came up for discussion, said a press release.

Presided over by committee chairman Prof MS Akbar, it was attended by State Minister Zinatun Nesa Talukdar, Khaleda Khanam, Kazi Keramat Ali. Prof Athin (Rakhain) and Shabita Begum.
