Sonali Trade and Finance UK Ltd formally started operation in England on Thursday last.

Sonali Bank chairman A I Aminul Islam Inaugurated the head office of the company at Sonali Bank Bhaban at Osborn Street in bondon, according to a fax message received here.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to UK Mahmud Ali were present at the inaugural function.

Four booths of the company were also opened on that day at Loton, Birmingham. Bradford and Manchester.

The Sonali Bank owned Sonali Trade and Finance will operate to handle foreign currency of expatriate Bangladeshis sent home and provide all kinds of international business facilities to them.

The company was formed following the closure of all Sonali Bank branches in the UK. The government formed a three-member executive committee to run the company. Sonali Bank chairman Dr Aminul Islam was appointed the chairman of the company. The other two members of the committee are Dr Siddiqur Rahman Osmani. The chief executive of Sonali Bank UK operation will also work as the member secretary of the committee.
