The High Court yesterday directed the Nari-O-Shishu Nir-jatqn Daman Adalat. Dhaka, to frame charges under the Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain. 1995 (Woman and Child Repression Prevention Act), against accused Shahidul Islam and Parveen in the Shazneen Murder Case. Reports BSS.

A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Mohammad Abdul Karim and Justice ABM Khairul Haque also stayed further proceedings of Shazneen Murder Case pending in the Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court No 1, Dhaka.

The court gave the directive after hearing two separate appeals filed by Latifur Rahman, father of Shazneen, and accused Parveen, maid servant of the house.

Latifur Rahman prayed for a directive of. the High Court te the trial court to frame charges against the accused for raping Shazneen under Section 6(1) of the Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain. 1995 instead of Section 6(2) of the same act. Accused Parveen contended in her appeal that Shazneen Murder Case cannot be tried under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain.

Earlier, in two separate cases of murder and rape of Shazneen. charges had been framed. In one case, the trial court framed charge under Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain against the accused for murder and rape of Shazneen. In the other case, the trial court framed charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code against the same accused for murder of Shazneen.

Senior advocate Mojibar Rahman appeared for Latifur Rahman while senior advocate M Sirajul Haque and advocate Anisul Haque appeared for Parveen.
