LONDON. June 5 (AP): Dave Houghton isn’t surprised his Zimbabwe team has made the Super Six of the cricket World Cup while teams like hosts England and the West Indies have been knocked out.

But he was overwhelmed that it beat neighbour South Africa to get there.

"All my life I’ve wanted to beat South Africa." said the former Test batsman who retired last year at age 40 after 20 years as a player.

"I've played them at (field) hockey Tests as well and never managed to win."

But Houghton believes that the 48-run victory at Chelmsford on Saturday would have an amazing effect on the nation.

"All the games now will be shown live on Zimbabwe television so it's not just the people who can afford satellite dishes who are watching us. "It's the whole nation." he said.

LOGO TROUBLE

LONDON. June 5 (AP): Before Indian maestro Sachin Tendulkar was cut to size by Glenn McGrath Friday, the ICC made him trim a logo on his bat to the official size.

Tendulkar was spotted by the International Cricket Council using a bat with an oversized logo of the Indian tire and sporting goods company MRF during the May 26 match against Sri Lanka at Taunton.

In a letter to the Indian team manager Brijesh Patel, the ICC. Kointed out that all players ave signed >an agreement to ensure that the logos do not exceed 7.5 square inches in size.

'Would you ensure he complies with 7.5 square inches as agreed in all remaining matches of World Cup 1999," the letter by ICC's Technical Committee spokesman. Clive Hitchcock, said.

Tendulkar played his four-ball innings with a correct size logo Friday against Australia in the first Super Six match before McGrath had him caught behind for a duck.
