Outstanding playwright of the Bangladeshi drama firmament Abdullah Al Mamun's 'Meherjaan Arekbar' is a story about a common problem in our society, but the message expressed through the play was very strong. Meherjaan, the central character of the play, is a homeless woman, deprived of her rights and property. She lives her life as a drifter with

her husband and daughter. Even after the liberation war, she is not relieved of her sufferings. Before she could even taste the essence oi freedom, she falls into the hands of the fundamentalists. She fleas and takes shelter at a restaurant in Dhaka city as a cook. There her wondering life seems to cease. But the irony of fate is she falls in the hands of the fundamentalists. national traitors and

religious prescriber, where she is dishonored. As she is cornered. she stands up to fight against it with all her might. A common problem in our society couldn'! be much more symbolically dramatized.

Directed by Ferdousi Majumdar. Meherjaan Arekbar' couldn't be better directed by anyone else. Performed by Theater', a drama group with a lot of quality performers dramatized the play very delicately.

Ferdausi Majumder. a leading actress and a personality who devoted her life to the drama played the central character Meherjaan'. Sainia Mohsin as Shokhina'. Tanvin Sweety as ' Pori'. Ramendra Majumder as 'Harmuz' were among the performers who's play were noticeable.

Ttie stage design was not at all impressive. Lack of dedica-’ tion to the stage design was noticeable. The light and sound quality was of good standard. Though the auditorium was not houseful but a large number of audience watched the show and enjoyed it.
