The 28th death anniversary of Shaheed Lt Md Anwarul Azim will be observed today at North Bengal Sugar Mills. Az-imnagar. Rajshahi in a befitting manner, says a press release.

On May 5. 1971 the Pakistani Occupation Forces entered the Mill compound and killed more than 200 officers and workers of the mill including the then General Manager Lt Azim on the staircase of the pond now known as "Shaheed Sagar".

Shaheed Azim actively took part in the Liberation War and under his guidance the aerodrome of Ishwardi Airport was destroyed with Mill's bulldozer. He also guided the freedom fighters into a fight in front of the railgate of North Bengal Sugar Mills where several Pakistani soldiers along with Major Aslam were killed.

The employees of the r have chalked out programmes to observe the day. Qurankhwani. milad mahfil. discussion meeting will be held at the Mill premises.
