Kidnapper caught

KUSHTLA, May 4: One kidnapper was caught by the teachers of Bheramara Government High School recently when she was taking Jhimu Aktar Kazal, 7, a student of class two.
The kidnapper was identified as Lucky alias Jinat Rehana, daughter of Aksar Biswas of village Mohisgari under Sailkupa thana of Jhenidah district. The teachers said that the kidnapper claimed Jhimu Aktar Kazal. 7. as her daughter and was about to take her from the school. But the teachers suspected on her movement and challenged her. At that time she tried to flee, but the local people caught her. Jhimu Aktar Kazal is the daughter of Abul Kalam of Bahirchar union. Bheramara police on getting information rushed there and arrested her.

BARISAL. May 4: People of the divisional headquarter welcomed Pahela Baishakh'. the first day of Bengali New Year 1406 in a traditional festive mood and great enthusiasm here recently.
Several hundreds of people of all ages wearing colourful dresses attended different cultural programmes. Several hundreds of people including children attended the 'Udichi' Barisal unit and Khelaghar organised programmes to observe 'Pahela Baishakh' in the morning at BM School and at Aswini Kumar Hall. Barisal Press Club arranged an art competition for children of different ages. At the end of the drawing competition competitors were awarded prizes.
Jasim Palli Mela opens

FARIDPUR, May 4: Environment and Forest Minister Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury inaugurated the week long Jasim Palli Mela at the court compound recently.
The fair was opened in observance of the 96th birth anniversary of Palli Kabi Jasimuddin at a function at Kabi Jasimuddin Hall. Organised by the Jasim Foundation with its President and Deputy Commissioner Md Atiqul Islam Chowdhury in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by advocate Mosarraf Hossain MP. Md Farhaduddin (ADC Gen) poura chairman Hasibul Hasan. S M Nurunnabi. Md Mohiuddin Ahmed and Kazi Mahabubur Haque, general secretary of the foundation.
