KOIRA (Khulna). May 4: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the opposition to have patience until next general election, saying her party will quit power in due time paving way tor elections under a caretaker government, reports UNB.

"Keep patience till the election comes. We will step down before the election." she told BNP that threatened to pull down her three-year-old government through a vigorous movement.

Addressing a huge public meeting at Kapotakkha (Kobodak) College ground here today. Hasina criticised the op-position s "movement of hartal"

and said the people will not accept the kind of politics through which they are trying to capture power.

The prime minister contended that in the name of movement, opposition parties are killing innocent people blasting bombs. They are trying to go to power through conspiracy. she said.

She said BNP was in power for five years but it did not do any thing for the welfare and development of the people. "People dragged BNP down from power for vote stealing. They do not want to see it in power again as they will lose their voting right if the vote thieves go to power."

Referring to the alliance of Khaleda Zia and Ershad. she said the two vote thieves joined their hands to protect the killers' of Bangabandhu." Their ' only target is to save the killers."

Hasina said Khaleda Zia did not try the killers of her husband. Rather she joined hands with that man (Ershad). whom she identified as the killer of her husband.

Shrugging off the opposition threats of an oust-government movement, she said people did not pull down Awami League from government, it was removed from power through conspiracy and killing.

The prime minister said all the elections, including the local government polls and byelections. held under this government were totally free and fair and the coming elections will also be like the previous ones.

About law and order, she PM: Patience

She alleged that the opposition leader is spreading lies saying price of rice is increasing. There was a bumper harvest of Boro and IRRI this year. The government has successfully tackled the post-flood situation by giving food aid to more than two crore people, liasina said.
