Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC) yesterday urged the government to constitute a judicial inquiry committee headed by a judge of the Supreme Court to unveil the mystery of the murder of Jalal Ahmed Shafi whose body was found inside the water tank at DB office.

The BHRC in a statement said a judicial inquiry committee is needed instead of investigation by the police to ensure exemplary punishment of the culprits involved is the brutal murder.

It also urged the government to involve country’s highest defence detective branch in aid of the present inquiry commission.

It said the arrest of policemen involved in the murder of driver Shafi is urgent to bring back people’s confidence on rule of law and to place the human rights above everything.
