Law. Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Matin Khasru Monday emphasised the need for speedy disposal of cases to ensure fair justice to the common people, reports BSg, -.

"Delay in justice is a national problem now," he said while inaugurating a twomonth basic training course for the newly appointed assistant judges in the auditorium of Judicial Administration Training Institute (JAT1) in the city.

’ Presided over by Director General of the JATI Justice Mohammad Badruzzaman. the function was also addressed by director of the institute Abu Bakar Siddique. Chairman of the Law Commission and former Chief Justice Kemal Uddin Hossain and member of the commission Justice Nayamud-din Alt med were present on the occasion.

The minister said judges should perform their duties without any fear or favour during the trial process.

"We need quality justice from qualified Judges, not the quantity of judgements." the minister said.

The minister said the gov-I eminent under the able leader-

ship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is trying to provide logistics to the judges and fulfil the demand for fair justice of the people.

The government has taken a project of Taka 300 crore with the financial help of the World Bank for enhancing quality and number of judges, he added.

Justice Mohammad Badruzzaman said, 'you can leant a lot from the senior judges who will impart training to you."

He said the institute had been set up for raising the efficiency of judges and developing their skills which could contribute to the speedy disposal of cases.
