SIRAJGANJ. Mar 2: Jatiya Party chief and former president HM Ershad has said the present Awami League government has brought the country to the brink of disaster due mainly to its incompetence and wrong policies, reports APB.

"This is why I have joined the Opposition camp to expedite its fall." he said while addressing a public meeting at Hatikumrul Chowrasta under Ullapara thana along Dhaka-Bogra highway yesterday.

Abdus Sattar Sultan, the convenor of the Ullapara thana Jatiya Party was in the chair. Former prime minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed, Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar, Mukit Chowdhury, MP and Nasiruddin Chowdhury. MP. among others, addressed the rally.

He accused the government of creating hindrances in the way of holding public meetings and detaining the Opposition leaders and workers. The government, he alleged, was leading the country towards anarchy.
