Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) has expressed deep concern over the "acute crisis and unusual price hike" of chemical fertiliser in different parts of the country, reports UNB.

In a statement yesterday. BSD convenor Khalequzzaman said farmers are getting frustrated due to short supply and price hike of fertiliser in the peak season of boro cultivation.

"Country's food deficit has already gone up to 43 lakh metric tones due to the last year’s flooding, if the foodgrain output is hampered again simply because of fertilizer, electricity, water and pesticide crisis the country' will face a famine-like situation." he said.

The BSD leader demanded of the government to ensure adequate supply of fertilizer to save the country from this adverse situation.
