ROTTERDAM, Netherlands. Feb 1: Dutch authorities refused to allow Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan to enter the Netherlands early Monday, saying he was on an unauthorised flight which had no permission to land, reports AP.

Ocalan was aboard a private plane that was heading to Rotterdam Airport where 200 Kurds were waiting to welcome him. He had not entered Dutch airspace when he was told he would not be allowed to land.

Speaking on national radio, Dutch attorney Britta Bohler said Ocalan wanted to approach the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague to request it to mediate between the Turk-ish government and Turkey's rebel Kurds.

Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party, reportedly flew further toward Athens after being refused permission to land in Rotterdam. Turkish authorities, who want to try Ocalan on terrorism charges, reportedly asked Greece to also retuse him permission to land.

Greek government spokesman Dimitris Reppas said, "We do not consider Ocalan's presence in Greece to be purposeful or useful." implying that the government would refuse him entry. Reppas added that Ocalan had not officially asked to be allowed into Greece.

At a morning press conference. Turkish Premier Bulent Ecevit warned nations of accepting Ocalan.
