Justice Habibur Rahman Khan has taken over as the chairman of the Bangladesh Press Council for a three-year term, reports BSS.

Before assuming his new assignment as the chairman of the Press Council, Justice Khan performed his duties as the member of labour appellate tribunal.

He acted as the member of the enquiry Commission constituted by the government to probe, the incident arising out of the prisoners revolt in Jessore Jail in January 1997. He also headed the one-member commission to probe the death of Shamim Reza Rubel in police custody.
