Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rashed Ahmed called upon Japanese employers to pay full compensation to Bangladeshi workers, who receive serious injuries during accidents at their workplace, in accordance with Japanese Labour Laws.

The ambassador also called for payments in the same amount as is given to Japanese workers, says a press release.

The plea was made during a meeting with the officials of a Japanese NGO, Asian People's Friendship Society (APFS) consisting of Japanese and Bangladeshi lawyers, who are engaged in movement for the protection of foreign workers right in Japan.

The ambassador said that some of the court decisions awarding compensation to Bangladeshi workers at the scale of wage and compensation given in Bangladesh was unfair and discriminatory. "The workers received injuries in Japan and should be compensated according to Japanese compensation law." he said. The ambassador assured- that the Tokyo mission would work actively for this purpose.

The leader of Asian People's Friendship Society Shimizu Koizumi and Md Islam thanked the Bangladesh Ambassador for his strong support and hoped that this would help Bangladeshi workers get fair and equal treatment while working in Japan.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh ambassador renewed his call on the eve of New Year to grant training visas to Bangladeshis working in Japan to help legalise their status and the human resource development of Bangladesh.
