Sixty people died in jail and police custody across the country during 1998, a study bv QOMkan a human rights organisation. revealed yesterday.

According to the study 20 people died in Dhaka Central Jail, four in Chittagong district jail, three in Khulna district jail, two in Jessore Central Jail and one in Rajshahi district Jail. Seven other people died in police stations and DB office.

The rest died in various district jails.

Two people also died in court premises.

Those who died were aged between 22 and 60.
