Defending champions Leonine Chess Club kept their solo lead intact in the First Division Chess League with a comprehensive 4-0 win over West Ja-trabari Krira Chakra after the fifth round held at the NSC chess room yesterday.

In the day's round. Leonine's Latvian GM Igors Raussis beat Farashganj's Sobel. Belarus GM Yuri Suleman beat Rutnu. Khandker Kayes Hasan beat Prosenjit while Abu Sufian Shakil won his board against Moniruzzaman.

Leonine, with their fourth win in five rounds against a draw have 18 points.-1.5 points ahead of'last year's runners-up Biman. who also posted a 4-0 victory over Narayanganj Daba Khelowar Samity in the fifth, round.

Biman’s three International Masters Ziaur Rahman. Reefat-bin-Sattar and Abdullah Al-Rakib won their respective boards against Narayanganj’s Raktim Banerjee. Monir Hossain and Murad while FIDE Master Tahmidur Rahman won the last board against Monirul Islam.

Titas Club remained third in the table with 14.5 points at the end of Friday s round. They registered a 3-1 win over Brothers Union.

In the day's other matches. Kamalapur SKKS beat Dhaka University by 3.5-.5 points. Ansars defeated Sonali Bank by 3-1 points. Anushilon Daba Krira Chakra beat Nakhalpara Jubo Kalyan Samity by 2.5-1.5 points while the other match between Farashganj Sporting and Mahakhali Prodeep Sangha ended in a 2-2 draw.
