BNP has refuted a UNB report that Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia made provocative remarks against the army, reports UNB.

The report is utterly false, baseless, fabricated and politically motivated ... question of making any provocative remark against the army and abusing the army personnel on duty by her or by her son. Tarek Rahman, do not arise at all." said a press release issued Tuesday night by Ahmed Nazir, press secretary to the BNP Chairperson.

The report, circulated by the agency quoting competent sources on Monday, was published in a section of the national dailies yesterday.

The press release said the report was intended to undermine the image of Begum Zia and her son. "We strongly condemn and protest the report."

Begum Zia told them that they should increase the security staff instead of creating obstacle to movement on way to her house, the press release added.

It further said Begum Zia is part of the army family. Sha-need Ziaur Rahman was not only the Chief of the Army, but he also had consolidated and modernised the army, and fought the Liberation War.
