A convicted prisoner escaped from the Mohakhali Chest Disease Hospital late Sunday night.

Mafizul who was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment in 1996 on charge of dacoity in Bhola was admitted to the hospital on August 31 under police custody. He managed to escape sometime after 10 pm Sunday. Jail sources said.

They said Mafizul was shifted to Dhaka Central Jail from Barisal on August 14 this ^ear for treatment of tubercu-

Two attending wardens of the Jail -- Razzak and Idrish --were suspended soon after the incident on charges of negligence of duty, said a Jail official.

A case was lodged with Gulshan thana Monday.
